Tesco Clubcard owners urged to act before Sunday | Personal Finance | Finance

Tesco’s Clubcard offers customers various discounts – but customers can often forget about their vouchers. As points add up, Tesco shoppers with a Clubcard should check for the vouchers they may have received but, also, for when they expire.

On Sunday 31 May, approximately £17m worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers are set to expire. The bundle of vouchers across the UK will disappear at 11.59pm, and so website MoneySavingExpert has urged shoppers to check their app in case this applies to them. For those who may not be able to spend their vouchers before Sunday, MoneySavingExpert also revealed how customers might be able to extend them.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers are valid for two years from their date of issue. Customers can check their vouchers via the app, website or paper copy of the voucher, if they have one.

To check for them, shoppers should select ‘Clubcard account’ and then ‘Vouchers’. Finding your Clubcard number is easy too – customers just need to check either their physical, digital or key fobs Clubcards to locate the number.

For customers looking to extend their vouchers MoneySavingExpert reveals a useful hack.

They told customers to make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page or donate to one of its partner charities.

Then, the remaining balance will be credited back to your Clubcard account.

They provided an example: “So if you spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you should get £4.50 back.”

Tesco shoppers can then swap their points for vouchers manually or wait for them to be converted with their next statement, resetting to the two-year expiry date.

Customers can also double and triple the value of vouchers by spending them at Tesco’s Reward Partners instead of in store.

For example, a £5 in-store voucher would be equivalent to a £10 spend at spots like Alton Towers or sites like Hotels.com. MoneySavingExpert advised customers to check the value of their voucher first, as this determines if the small cost to extend the voucher is truly worth it.

Triple value applies to high street restaurants, Bella Italia, ASK Italian, Las Iguanas, Frankie & Benny’s, Pizza Express, Prezzo Italian or Zizzi.
