Speaking in New Magazine, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, said: “Of course she’s also got Camilla to deal with, who would never be rude or unpleasant to her, but knowing the sort of woman she is, she will be absolutely very, very wary of Meghan indeed.”
The Duchess of Sussex may reach out to Camilla on a summer visit to London. Meghan is reportedly weighing up whether to join him on a much-discussed return to the UK after nearly four years away.
Prince Harry has long harboured distrust toward his stepmother, airing his public accusations against her in his memoir Spare. In his book, the royal revealed that, in 2005, he and Prince William pleaded with their father not to marry Camilla.
Charles, who is now King, had been engaged in a longstanding affair with Camilla during his 15-year marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales.
“Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings,” Harry writes in Spare. “We recognised that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.”
In 2023, Harry took a more gentle stance on Camilla, saying that he has a “huge amount of compassion for her.”
At the time, he added that they had not spoken in a while, but he loves every member of his family.
According to Time, in a contradictory statement, he said: “She’s my stepmother. I don’t look at her as an evil stepmother,” he added, “I see someone who married into this institution and has done everything that she can to improve her own reputation and her own image for her own sake.”
Meghan and Prince Harry now live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
