Britain is set for a three-day “mini-heatwave” later this month as temperatures are forecast to climb to 21C across large parts of southern England. Brand new weather maps from forecaster WX Charts show temperatures soaring above 20C for three consecutive days, with some areas expected to bask in 21C warmth between Wednesday, May 20 and Friday, May 22.
According to the latest WX Charts forecasts, the hottest conditions are expected during the early evening, with much of southern England experiencing unusually warm spring temperatures. On Wednesday, May 20, temperatures of up to 21C are forecast across parts of Kent, Surrey and Greater London at around 6pm.
On Thursday, May 21, temperatures of 21C are also expected at around 6pm with 21C highs forecast in Kent, Greater London and parts of Surrey. Areas in southwest Kent, including Sittingbourne, Rainham, Gravesend and Dartford, could all enjoy the hottest temperatures of the day.
By Friday, May 22, the warm weather is predicted to spread even further across southern England at around 6pm, with 21C temperatures forecast in parts of Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex.
Separately, the Met Office‘s long-range forecast for the period of May 15 to May 24 reads: “Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by.
“This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected.
“For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant.
“By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.”
