Just as we thought it might be time to ditch the brollies new maps have revealed that the UK is set to be sodden.

The UK is predicted to have sudden downpours later this month with up to 3mm of rain per hour.

At least that’s the verdict according to the latest weather maps which predict a storm to start in Greenland that’s then forecast to reach the UK on Thursday June 20 at around 4am.

Within 24 hours the storm is forecast to move from the north-west of Scotland, down through England and before it travels toward France.

The low-pressure system will initially bring up to 16cm of snow to the east coast of Greenland within three hours, reports The Mirror.

In the early hours of Wednesday, June 19, the storm’s then expected to slowly move out toward the Atlantic Ocean says Ventusky maps.

The following day the rain is then predicted to reach Glasgow at about 4am on Thursday. A thunderstorm is then predicted to set in over Carlisle by about 1pm the same day.

That afternoon – at around 4pm – Liverpool is set for a downpour which is predicted to reach London and Kent by 7pm.

The Met Office has a long range forecast that covers from Thursday, June 13 until Saturday, June 22 that predicts a “band of rain.”

It says: “After a dry start for many on Thursday, a band of rain is expected to push eastwards to affect much of the country.

“It will feel cool and damp for many, especially across hills in southern and central areas.

“On Friday and over the weekend, the weather will likely become a mix of sunshine and showers.

“During the daytime on each day, showers could become heavy and slow moving, and there is a chance these might turn thundery at times.

“However, not everywhere will catch a shower, and many places may hold on to warm, sunny days with light winds.”

It added: “Next week, confidence for dominant weather regimes is low. There are tentative signs of building high pressure from the west, but rain and showers are still possible.”
