UK households with 36 appliances are being handed half-price electricity bills through an exclusive British Gas scheme.
The major energy supplier is offering 50% off the price of electricity to customers who own certain Samsung products and are signed up to its Samsung Weekend Saver tariff. The cheaper price applies on Saturdays and Sundays only, between a five-hour window from 11am until 4pm. The scheme is similar to British Gas’s PeakSave scheme which gives households the opportunity to cut their electricity costs by 50% every single Sunday during the same five-hour period starting at 11am.
But this scheme is exclusively for customers who own a Samsung product, with 36 different appliances being eligible, including home appliances, mobile devices and TVs.

During the five-hour window on Saturdays and Sundays, eligible customers can use as much electricity as needed at half the usual price.
After each saving event, British Gas will then credit half of what you spent back into your account, with Saturday credits showing as ‘Samsung Saturdays’ on your next bill or online statement, and Sunday credits added separately as ‘PeakSave’.
The credits will normally be applied within two weeks of each event ending and as the discount applies every weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to save.
To be eligible for the discount, you’ll need to have an eligible Samsung product, have electricity with British Gas and have a smart meter so the exact amount of electricity you use can be calculated to work out how much you need to be credited back.
Explaining why customers should switch to the Samsung Weekend Saver tariff, British Gas said: “Get half-price electricity every weekend between 11am and 4pm. If we offer a cheaper fixed tariff in the future, you can switch anytime for free.
“You can join Green Flex events and get half-price electricity at other times. All your savings will be applied to your bill automatically.”
The supplier added: “Once you’ve signed up to the Samsung Weekend Saver Fix tariff, you don’t need to do anything to take part – we’ll automatically sign you up to PeakSave and include you in every Saturday and Sunday event.
“You can use as much half-price electricity as you need from 11am to 4pm. Your smart meter will tell us how much you used, and we’ll work out your credit.”
