A meat product being sold in the UK exclusively at Tesco is being recalled by its producer amid health fears.
Sacor is recalling Bastides Saucisson Sec because Salmonella has been found in the product, the Food Standards Agency said. This product is sold exclusively in Tesco stores. It comes in a 200g pack, has a best before of March 4, 2026, and a barcode 5010292933486.
Sacor is recalling the product and have issued a recall notice to alert customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product, the FSA added.
Anyone who bought the item is being urged not to eat it. Symptoms of Salmonella include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. The FSA urged: “If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others.”
Their advice to customers also included the following message: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest Tesco store for a full refund. For more information email customercare@compleatfood.com.”
Salmonella bacteria is a common cause of food poisoning. The NHS said: “The symptoms usually start within a few hours or a few days of eating food that caused the infection. Sometimes symptoms do not start for a few weeks.” It states that many people can treat food poisoning at home, with symptoms usually getting better within a week. The most important thing is to have lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.”
