Warburtons fire LIVE: Burnley bread factory blaze as smoke seen for miles | UK | News

A fire has reportedly erupted at the Warburtons Factory in Burnley as smoke fills the sky above the town. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called reports of a fire at a commercial property on Billington Road, off Rossendale Road just before 3pm.

Currently there are twelve fire engines in attendance with residents advised by Lancashire Fire and Rescue to “stay away from the area to avoid hindering firefighting operations.”

Warburton’s had confirmed its factory is the site affected. A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that thankfully everyone has safely been evacuated from the building. We are grateful to the fire brigade who are currently working extremely hard to get the fire under control. We don’t know the cause of the fire, or the full extent of the damage as yet. “

David Fishwick, the Burnley businessman and star of Netflix’s Bank of Dave, raised the alarm after spotting a major fire at the Warburtons factory, and its trucks, while flying overhead.

In a post on X, he said: “I’m flying over Burnley, & the Warburtons factory & trucks are on fire! The fire engines have just arrived! Let me know if you need anybody airlifted to the hospital! @LancsPolice & @LancashireFRS my helicopter can carry 5 & I’m available to help immediately! Hope everyone is safe.”
