Wetherspoon is bringing back its popular 10-day event, offering pints for as little as £2.99. The pub giant has confirmed its Wetherspoon Craft Cider Festival starts on Friday, July 31 and run until Sunday, August 9.
Fifteen ciders from 15 producers will feature at Wetherspoon pubs across the UK. Punters can choose from classic apple cider, flavoured ciders or perries, with prices ranging from £2.99 to £3.49.
Wetherspoon said in a statement: “Whether you’re a traditionalist who likes to stick to a classic apple cider or you have a penchant for something a bit fruitier, you are sure to find an option to tickle your taste buds.”
All the ciders available can be ordered through the Wetherspoon app. Tasting notes will be offered in pubs for every cider featured.
Wetherspoons operates 793 managed pubs and 23 franchise sites across the UK.
Earlier this month, the chain reported slower-than-expected sales growth and warned again about profits, spoiling investor hopes of a World Cup and warm-weather boost.
The pub giant recorded sales growth of 4% in the three months to July 19, compared with the same period last year.
While sales across the pub chain increased year-on-year, some investors were hopeful that sales momentum would swing more positively after a recent slowdown in trade.
Wetherspoon’s boss, Tim Martin, warned that the company could miss profit guidance, adding to remarks made in May that Government-linked policy costs would act as a drag on the chain’s financial performance.
It previously said it was facing £60million of extra costs linked to wage increases and National Insurance contributions for the year.
Susannah Streeter, chief investment strategist at Wealth Club, said previously: “Wetherspoon is having to swallow a bitter mix of higher labour, food, energy, repairs and business rates, which continues to eat away at margins.
“These pressures are unlikely to disappear any time soon.”
