It’s finals weekend at Wimbledon, and we’re guaranteed to crown a new, Czech champion on the women’s side, as Karolina Muchova takes on Linda Noskova on Saturday afternoon. In the men’s event, the top two seeds, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, will face off on Sunday.
Reigning champion Sinner dispatched Novak Djokovic in Friday’s semi-final, winning 6-4 6-4 6-4 and hitting a staggering 40 winners. Djokovic, 39, confessed that he couldn’t have done much more against the dominant Italian, but hit back when a reporter suggested he wasn’t as competitive last season and said: “Wrong.”
Meanwhile, the Serbian superstar’s former coach, Andre Agassi, apologised live on air during the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage while discussing Djokovic’s ear seeding. “Leave a little room that he’s started this company or invested in this company, and now he’s promoting it,” he joked. “If I’m being a little inappropriate, I’m sorry but the dude is shrewd on and off the court.”
