Wimbledon LIVE: Raducanu on court after scare as Sinner undergoes tests | Tennis | Sport

Cameron Norrie is thriving as an “underdog” at Wimbledon this year.

The British No.1 is used to having lots of hours under his belt and even prepared for the French Open with a five-set practice match against Ben Shelton.

But Norrie, 30, has only played one official match on grass this season, losing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at Queen’s.

He also contested two exhibition matches in Hurlingham, losing to Jannik Sinner and Jiri Lehecka.

The Brit is the No.26 seed at Wimbledon and has drawn American qualifier Michael Zheng in round one.

But he still feels like he’s flying under the radar at SW19 this year.

Norrie said: “I’ve had the whole week to get ready. Had some matches in Hurlingham, which was fantastic.

“The preparation’s been really good. The weather’s put it on for me. I really like it when the grass is like this, and it’s warm and hot.

“It’s always nice to be the underdog going into whatever match you play. Such a special tournament. I always feel good going into this tournament.”

The only British man in the top 100 retired from the French Open with a rib injury, but confirmed that he was feeling fine again.

Norrie added: “I think it’s nice to be healthy. It’s easy to take that for granted.

“Another Wimbledon… You would kill to be playing in this tournament when I was younger.

“You need to put it into perspective. You have another opportunity to go at the tournament.”
