After 26 years of official elimination status, the measles are making a concerning comeback in the United States, with the CDC reporting more than 3,800 cases across 47 states in 2026. New York’s Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a statewide “disaster emergency,” while in Pennsylvania there are more than 1,000 confirmed cases in the latest outbreak. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports for TODAY.
