Aldi has introduced a brand new drink that’s been hailed as ‘genuinely rare’. The budget retailer is renowned for consistently refreshing its food and drink range, featuring SpecialBuy promotions that typically can’t be found elsewhere.
As part of its most recent wine collection update, Aldi is now offering a ‘rare’ £5.99 bottle that comes highly recommended for ‘Pinot Grigio lovers’, according to a wine specialist. The discount chain is stocking a White Shiraz, turning one of the UK’s best-known red grapes into a summer white.
Aldi’s new Kooliburra White Shiraz (75cl) is now available in stores. Sam Caporn, who became a Master of Wine in 2011, receiving the Madame Bollinger Medal for Excellence in Tasting, described the wine as “a genuinely rare and exciting find.”
According to Sam: “This White Shiraz is a genuinely rare and exciting find. It’s crisp and fresh – completely unlike a traditional Shiraz; it’s perfect for Pinot Grigio lovers!”
Sam said shoppers can expect “notes of crunchy raspberry pip and pomegranate, with some softer honeysuckle hints, all balanced by a crisp, zesty acidity.” Aldi describes the wine as vibrant and light-bodied.

The supermarket explained that it is made from the Shiraz grape but vinified as a white wine through minimal skin contact, offering “all the freshness of a white wine.” Hitting shelves in time for summer, Aldi thinks the “crisp, fresh flavour” could be ideal for this season.
Aldi added: “It’s a brilliant choice for those looking for a refreshing alternative to their usual white, as well as those who prefer lighter styles. At just £5.99, this extraordinary Kooliburra White Shiraz is perfect for enjoying chilled in the sunshine, at barbecues, or simply for those moments that call for something out of the ordinary. It proves that sometimes the best discoveries are the most unexpected ones.”
Customers browsing the supermarket’s drinks range will find beers, wines, and spirits. Aldi also offers a wine of the week. This week’s pick, the Italian Toscana Bianco 75cl, is available in stores from May 7. Aldi is selling the Italian wine for £4.99, down from £8.49 , reports the Mirror.
