Champions League semi-final draw as it stands after Liverpool and Barcelona knocked out | Football | Sport

Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have become the first two teams to book their spot in the semi-finals of this year’s Champions League. Atletico overcame Barcelona to secure a spot in the last four, while PSG got the better of Liverpool across two legs to secure their ticket into the next round.

They’ll be joined by a further two of Arsenal or Sporting CP, and Bayern Munich or Real Madrid when the quarter-final stage draws to a close on Wednesday night. But with half of the semi-final line-up completed, what does the current last-four draw look like as it stands?

2026 Champions League semi-final draw as it stands

After holding on for a somewhat respectable defeat against Paris Saint-Germain last week, Liverpool entered the second leg at Anfield clinging to hope of a special comeback. Arne Slot’s side started well at Anfield but never looked like threatening the Ligue 1 giants.

As a reward for progressing through the tie, they’ll be rewarded with a mouth-watering semi-final against either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. The Bundesliga outfit boast a 2-1 advantage heading into the return leg against Alvaro Arbeloa’s Real Madrid side, with Bayern Munich aiming for what would be only their second Champions League semi-final since winning the competition in 2020.

On the opposite side of the draw, Atletico were ahead by two goals heading into their home second leg at the Metropolitano. The two-goal lead was quickly cancelled out by Barcelona, but the Madrid-based outfit battled hard to find their third goal of the tie, which was eventually enough to see them through.

It’s likely the victors of that tie will be planning for a trip to the English capital, given Arsenal are heavy favourites to join them in the semi-finals. Mikel Arteta and co. might’ve had a difficult couple of weeks, but a late Kai Havertz goal in Lisbon gave them a slender lead to take back to the Emirates Stadium ahead of Wednesday’s return leg.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich/ Real Madrid

It is worth noting that if Real Madrid were to win their semi-final against Bayern Munich, they would assume home advantage in the second leg, as they inherit their opponent’s seeding from the league phase. Similarly, Sporting would also have the second leg of their prospective semi-final at home, should they overturn the deficit against Arsenal.
