A major Netflix star is set to enter the Lands Between.

Beef season two actress Cailee Spaeny is amongst several high-profile names confirmed to have joined the impressive ensemble cast of Alex Garland’s forthcoming Elden Ring adaptation for A24.

The celebrated indie studio is joining forces with Bandai Namco Entertainment on the eagerly awaited feature film, which is scheduled for release on 3rd March, 2028.

Garland (Civil War, Warfare) is on board as both writer and director, with Kit Connor (Heartstopper) and Ben Whishaw (Black Doves) leading the cast.

The full line-up has been unveiled this week and features Spaeny, fresh from her prominent role in Netflix‘s second series of Beef alongside Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Connor’s Warfare co-star Charles Melton, reports the Mirror.

Spaeny is also reuniting with Garland having previously starred in his critically praised dystopian thriller Civil War, released in 2024. She was first linked to the project last July, alongside Whishaw, and her involvement has now been officially confirmed by Deadline.

The remainder of the cast comprises Tom Burke (Furiosa), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), Jonathan Pryce (Under Salt Marsh), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms), Nick Offerman (Margot’s Got Money Troubles), John Hodgkinson (Life After Life), Jefferson Hall (House of the Dragon), Emma Laird (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Peter Serafinowicz (Amandaland).

Details regarding their individual roles remain undisclosed at this stage. Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin is co-producing the film following his worldbuilding contributions to the original game by FromSoftware. Fellow producers include Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, alongside Vince Gerardis.

Elden Ring has shifted over 30 million copies worldwide, establishing itself as amongst the highest-selling games in history. The title has garnered widespread critical praise, accumulating more than 400 Game of the Year accolades.

Taking place in an expansive fantasy domain called the Lands Between, players assume control of a ‘Tarnished’ warrior who confronts numerous undead creatures, beasts, and demigod adversaries to restore equilibrium following a catastrophic occurrence called the ‘Shattering’.

One Reddit enthusiast described it as “a candidate for best game of all time”, adding: “I’m convinced.

“The balance of character design and build progression. Classes. The weapon system. The detailed beautiful art in each map area. I could go on and on. It’s nearly perfect.

“Been playing RPGs for almost 20 years. I don’t know if there’s a better game really.”

Meanwhile, a 10/10 Metacritic review hailed it “one of the greatest games of this generation” and an “absolute masterpiece”.

Beef season 2 is available to stream on Netflix. Elden Ring is coming to cinemas on 3rd March, 2028.
