The clay season of tennis is now in full swing with the Madrid Open to take place over the coming days. Just over one week ago, Jannik Sinner triumphed at the Monte Carlo Masters and became world No.1 after beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Those two rivals will not meet in the Spanish capital, however, as Alcaraz has withdrawn from the ATP Masters 1000 event due to a wrist injury. The 22-year-old recently offered an update on his potential availability for Roland Garros and Sinner has also shared his thoughts on the topic.
Novak Djokovic is also being plagued by injury and will not feature in Madrid, with the Serb enjoying some free time, which saw him take on a presenting role on Monday. A new sport is also seemingly being eyed by Djokovic after he revealed the reason why he has started following cricket.
With all of that being said, stay with us on the Daily Express for the latest tennis news and updates throughout the day…
