Every Newcastle player heading to the World Cup after England shock | Football | Sport

The World Cup 2026 squads have been confirmed, with Newcastle United set to have seven stars at the upcoming major tournament. That figure could have been even bigger if it were not for a handful of unfortunate omissions and shock qualification exits. Lewis Hall appeared to have secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad following another impressive season at St James’ Park.

However, that seat on the plane was ultimately given to Djed Spence, who helped Tottenham survive relegation to the Championship on the final day of the season. Both Sandro Tonali and Will Osula suffered play-off heartbreak with Italy and Denmark respectively, while Harvey Barnes’ decision to snub Scotland didn’t end with him making the cut for the Three Lions. Those not heading to Mexico, Canada and the United States will enjoy a summer break before returning for pre-season training next month.

Relaxing at the beach is far from the minds of Newcastle’s seven stars bound for the World Cup, however, with FIFA confirming the full squad lists this week after the submission deadline passed.
