Major UK travel company plunges into administration – in business 10 years | UK | News

A UK tourism firm, which had been operating multiple holiday packages, has collapsed into administration.

Tripsmiths and TS Travel had been providing travellers with an extensive selection of adventures to some of the globe’s most enchanting locations, from French vineyard excursions and African safaris to picturesque getaways around Italy’s Lake Garda and lively, culture-filled city breaks.

The firms had also been welcoming visitors north of the border, providing tours across the Highlands, excursions to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and even journeys aboard the Jacobite steam train.

That particular experience included a presentation with former BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, alongside the opportunity to participate in a “commando tour” guided by ex-Royal Marine Monty Hall. However, both businesses have now gone into administration.

It has been confirmed that the firm’s assets and operations have been sold.

A spokesperson told The Herald: “Tripsmiths Limited and TS Travel Limited entered administration on May 14, with Michael Solomons and Andrew Pear of Moorfields appointed as joint administrators.”

“Following their appointment, the joint administrators completed a sale of the company’s business and assets. The purchaser has confirmed that existing customer bookings will continue to be honoured and all future holidays are going ahead as normal.”

The spokesperson also said: “All customer monies are held securely in a trust account and guaranteed by the Travel Trust Association.

“In connection with the transaction, employees of the companies transferred to the purchaser pursuant to TUPE regulations.”

TS Tours, the trading name of TS Travel, stated on its website: “We know what makes a great travel experience and every one of our trips has been hand-crafted in-house by us – combining unique insights, exclusive access and memorable experiences.”

It further noted that “when you add to this the opportunity to travel in the company of inspirational experts” including Kate Adie, Martin Bell, Oz Clarke and Prue Leith, “then you have a trip to write home about”.
