Murder probe launched after man found dead in caravan in lay-by | UK | News

A murder investigation has been launched “following a report of a sudden death in a caravan”, police said. A man in his 40s was found dead in a caravan on Derby Road, Loughborough, earlier this week, Leicestershire Police said. The death was initially reported to the force on Monday, July 6, at around 11.40pm.

East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and pronounced the man deceased at the scene. In a statement released on July 8, police added: “Subsequent enquiries have found that the deceased man – who was in his 40s – reported being involved in an altercation in the days leading up to being found.”

Enquiries are in their early stages to establish what has happened and to determine what has led to this man’s death.

The force said a 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Mike Chandler, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), is leading the investigation.

He said: “I’ve got a dedicated team of officers working to understand what’s happened in this altercation and the events that led to the death of this man.

“Officers will be in the area of Derby Road over the coming days, carrying out enquiries and forensic investigations. A cordon will remain in place while these enquiries are carried out.
