The Princess of Wales appeared to make a secret nod to her estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, during her latest appearance in London. Princess Catherine looked radiant as she attended a special ceremony at St James’s Palace on Tuesday evening, alongside the King and Queen and other royals.

It marked Cancer Research UK’s 125th anniversary. Both the King and the princess were diagnosed with cancer in 2024, but Catherine is now in remission, and the monarch is still undergoing treatment for it. The future Queen dazzled in a red polka dot dress, red heels and a red bag, along with diamond and ruby jewellery.

However, there was added significance behind Catherine’s dress designer.

The princess opted for Rodarte’s printed silk twill midi dress in red, with both the long and short versions in most sizes already sold out online.

Rodarte is a well-known American brand, founded by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy in 2005 and based in Los Angeles, California.

The sisters first started making their creation in Pasadena, LA.

Los Angeles holds a special place in Meghan Markle’s heart as it is her own hometown, and, despite currently living in Montecito, she regularly comes back to it.

In November 2025, she was spotted filming a small cameo on the set of Amazon MGM Studios.

Earlier this year, in January, she also rushed to help people in Pasadena after the devastating wildfires in California.

On Tuesday, Princess Catherine and TV presenter Davina McCall talked about their experiences of cancer, as the broadcaster was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year, but said in April she had now received the “all clear” following surgery.

McCall, who also underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign brain tumour, told Catherine it was an “absolute honour” to meet her.

The two discussed McCall’s cancer experience, as the TV presenter told the princess it had been “liberating” to talk about it publicly.

She described the future Queen as “really wonderful,” adding: “It was a really wonderful exchange, and they (the King, Queen and princess) are all wonderful.

“I can’t imagine what it must be like having gone through something like cancer, and then sort of having to tell people about it, when possibly it would have been much easier and nicer not to have to share it with the world.”

Catherine was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer early in 2024, for which she underwent chemotherapy, and revealed she was in remission 16 months ago in January 2025.

She returned to international travel last month, carrying out her first overseas royal visit since her cancer diagnosis, heading to Reggio Emilia, near Bologna, Italy, for a solo working trip as part of her early years work.
