Ronnie Wood playing a rare solo show in London this summer | Music | Entertainment

The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood has today announced a rare UK solo show – his first in more than 16 years. Following the immediate sell-out of two Ronnie Wood And His Band shows at Amsterdam’s legendary Paradiso, the rocker will bring the show featuring Imelda May to London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum on August 21.

Tickets go on sale this Friday and Ronnie said: “I’m looking forward to kickin’ ass with my back catalogue and some new songs – look out London!” The solo show at Paradiso sold out in minutes, with a second night subsequently added. Due to continued demand, the London show and another gig, in Cologne, Germany, have been announced.

These intimate shows are described an opportunity to see one of the world’s most iconic guitarists outside of his stadium performances with The Rolling Stones. They mark the first full live solo sets Ronnie Wood has played in more than 16 years.

Joining the band for both performances will be his friend Imelda May. The pair have collaborated multiple times on record and live, notably at the 2023 Jeff Beck Tribute Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The 78-year-old musician is a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having been honorued with the Rolling Stones and the Faces.

He has played in some of the most influential rock groups of all time and guested with a who’s who of British music. At the same time, he’s enjoyed a remarkable parallel career as a highly regarded artist and, as a natural raconteur, has won a record three prestigious Sony Radio Personality awards.

The Stones are reportedly gearing up to release a new as yet untitled album in July after posters for a mysterious band called the Cockroaches appeared in London earlier this month. A single called Rough and Twisted was released on April 11.

Their last album, 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, was the first since the death of drummer Charlie Watts. Many critics considered it their best album for years.
