Tesco Clubcard shoppers can earn up to £50 in points by completing certain challenges in store this summer. The supermarket restarted its Clubcard Challenges on Monday, allowing customers to earn more points on their weekly shop until September 13.
Customers can collect up to 5,000 Clubcard points – the equivalent of £50 – by buying specific items in-store or through online shopping. Customers must buy items or brands that Tesco will suggest during the period, based on their previous purchases. They can select up to 10 challenges from a list of 20 before the cutoff date, and when they do so, they will earn extra points on top of their usual rewards.
The points can be exchanged for money off a weekly shop, or they can double in value when redeemed against certain Tesco partners, such as Disney+.
However, not everyone can get involved. Only certain customers have been selected, and Tesco has uploaded the challenge onto their Tesco Grocery & Clubcard accounts. A notification or a banner in the app will invite them to take part.
Customers who were left out shared their dismay on Facebook. One shopper who was not selected wrote they “would love to know how they pick”.
Another added: “I miss mine so much. Got loads from them last year but stopped getting them beginning of this year.”
Shoppers will need to scan their Clubcard at the checkout in-store or link their Clubcard account to their online order for the transaction to be counted. Purchases from Tesco Petrol Filling Stations are not included.
Others criticised the challenges for having an expensive threshold. One shopper said: “Not the best this time £45 on fruit. If only we could afford this much on fruit.”
