The ‘most powerful’ ‘masterpiece’ war film now streaming on Amazon | Films | Entertainment

Amazon Prime viewers will be pleased to learn that one of the “most powerful” war films has landed on the streaming platform. American Sniper was released in 2014 and is a biographical war drama film directed and co-produced by Clint Eastwood and written and executive-produced by Jason Hall.

The movie is based on the memoir of the same name by Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. It stars Bradley Cooper as Kyle and Sienna Miller as his wife, Taya, alongside Luke Grimes, Jake McDorman, Cory Hardrict, Kevin Lacz, Navid Negahban, and Keir O’Donnell in supporting roles.

The film’s synopsis reads: “U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission — protect his comrades — to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.”

American Sniper has an 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Their consensus states: “Powered by Clint Eastwood‘s sure-handed direction and a gripping central performance from Bradley Cooper, American Sniper delivers a tense, vivid tribute to its real-life subject.”

One critic said: “In many ways, American Sniper is new territory for Clint Eastwood while still retaining his signature hallmark of grit and heart.”

An audience reviewer said: “Masterpiece by Clint Eastwood….such a great war movie and the effects it has on our soldiers. Must see for anyone into war movies.”

“About as perfect as you can make for a movie about this kind of thing,” a second added.

Another wrote: “This was such an engaging movie with great acting and storyline. It’s even better since it’s based on true events. Bradley Cooper was amazing in this. It’s definitely worth the watch.”

On YouTube, the film was listed at 5% Entertainment’s ranking of the “most powerful war movies”.
