Two men are due in court after being charged with multiple counts of rape following an alleged incident at a property in a seaside town.
The case relates to an 18-year-old woman who was reportedly attacked in Southsea, Hampshire, during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police say the alleged assault took place between 1am and 3am at an address on Manners Road, where the victim is said to have been targeted by two men she did not know.
An investigation was launched shortly after the incident was reported, leading to charges against both suspects.
Bobby Watson, 46, of Waltham Abbey in Essex, and Tony Goldsmith, 45, of Enfield in north London, have each been charged with three counts of rape.
Both men have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed officers carried out extensive enquiries following the report.
A force spokesperson said: “The incident happened between 1am and 3am at an address on Manners Road.
“Officers have been carrying out thorough enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“They have now charged two men in connection with the incident.
“Tony Goldsmith, 45, of Gilbert Street in Enfield, has been charged with three counts of rape.
“Bobby Watson, 46, of Highbridge Street in Waltham Abbey, Essex, has been charged with three counts of rape.
“They have been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 June.”
