One woman has gone viral online after appearing to snatch several wine bottles for herself amid the chaos of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The bold move came after bullets rang out at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

A gunman, later identified by authorities as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from California, reportedly charged a security checkpoint outside the main ballroom armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

But one woman appeared to be more bothered about getting her money’s worth than evacuating.

The unknown blonde, seen wearing a long black fur coat, went straight for a table to stockpile booze.

The shooting took place early on in the evening, and so there was a lot of booze left untouched across the ballroom.

The woman’s identity is not immediately clear, and it’s not apparent whether it was alcohol she had already paid for. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing.

Despite that, footage quickly went viral, with many divided on the move.

One said: “This is absolutely disgusting. Members of the press were caught stealing bottles of wine in the immediate aftermath of the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

A second added: “The President almost just got assassinated and members of the media are using the opportunity to steal bottles of wine.”

But others disagreed, finding the move funny.

One said: “They paid $350+ a plate, and the night got canceled early, free wine tax refund is fair game.”

“How is this stealing? They were placed on the tables for dinner. They were meant to be consumed. Everything was already paid for,” another poster wrote.

A third said: “The highlight of the shooting is all the press and influencers yoinking bottles of wine and champagne. Good on them for that.”

A fourth commented: “This is absolutely hilarious. After the assassination attempt, this woman just snags a couple of bottles of wine. She’s got her priorities figured out.”

During the confrontation, the suspect fired at a Secret Service agent, who was struck at close range but survived without major injury due to his bulletproof vest.

Investigators believe the attack was politically motivated, with acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stating that preliminary findings suggest the gunman was targeting administration officials, likely including the president.

Writings found in the suspect’s possession reportedly referred to him as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and criticised current administration policies.

While the event was cancelled for the evening, President Trump later addressed the nation from the White House, praising the Secret Service’s swift response and calling for an end to political violence.
