Experts have named the best stain remover available in UK supermarkets. Removing stains from clothing can be a pain, especially when you scrub and wash in vain. There are certainly some cheap stain removers on the market, but some are far more effective than others. While natural remedies can be made at home, many busy Brits prefer to buy a pre-made, expertly-reviewed product that will do most of the job for them.
The experts at Good Housekeeping recently revealed their list of top cleaning products for every jobs, including removing stains from clothes. They regularly test every category of cleaning product with a set of unique protocols, scoring them based on performance, ease of use, design and instructions. Each product is then assigned a score out of 100, enabling a final ranking.
Its ‘rigorous’ testing suggested that the best stain remover available in UK supermarkets is the Vanish Gold Oxi Action Spray, available for just £6 in Asda.
It scored an impressive 91 out of 100 in Good Housekeeping’s product test. Listing the benefits of the spray, experts point out how it is easy to use, as consumers can “just spray, leave for a couple of minutes and wash as normal”.
Plus, it doesn’t bleach coloured fabrics. However, it can’t be used on cotton or satin, limiting its use. “This powerful spray lives up to its claims, lifting a wide range of tricky stains such as mustard, coffee and red wine,” the authors of the report said.
“It’s easy to target exactly where you need it, and it works effectively on both whites and colours without causing fading. A valuable addition to your laundry cupboard.”
Good Housekeeping also named the best laundry detergent – Persil Non Bio Laundry Washing Liquid Detergent – available for between £6 and £10 in UK supermarkets and via online retailers.
When it comes to fabric softener, the experts named Lenor Outdoorable Fabric Conditioner, Spring Awakening as the product to consider. It is available for as little as £4 in UK supermarkets and online.
