A 16 year old boy has been rushed to hospital following a stabbing incident in Nottingham city centre. The attack took place on Wednesday, January 14, prompting an immediate response from Nottinghamshire Police.
His injuries, while serious, are not believed to be life-threatening.
The boy’s family has been informed about his condition. In the wake of the incident, the police have initiated an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to step forward with information.
No arrests have been made thus far. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police stated: “Emergency services were called to George Street at 5.51pm after a 16-year-old boy sustained two stab wounds.”
“He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering in nature, and his family has been made aware.
“An investigation into what happened is continuing and additional witnesses are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers quoting incident 556 of 14 January 2026.”
This stabbing incident follows a year where Nottinghamshire police recorded a significant number of knife seizures, leading to a decrease in knife crime. The force’s knife crime team confiscated a total of 224 weapons and made 150 arrests during 2025.
The weapons have been confiscated as a result of targeted patrols throughout the city. This has led to the discovery of numerous blades that could have otherwise remained hidden.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, there was a one per cent decrease in knife-related offences in Nottinghamshire between October 2024 and September 2025.
