Man Utd manager theory raised as Gary Neville accused of having ‘inside info’ | Football | Sport

Paul Scholes believes Julian Nagelsmann could be handed the Manchester United job, simply because Gary Neville keeps bringing up the Germany manager’s name.

As Scholes, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright debated the potential managerial candidates at United, both of Neville’s former Old Trafford team-mates playfully accused him of having inside knowledge. On several occasions, Neville has argued that the former Bayern Munich boss has both the experience and personality to become the next Red Devils manager.

Speaking on The Overlap, the ex-United defender once again put forward the current Germany manager as somebody he would back to take the club’s next permanent role.

It was at that point that Scholes put forward his tongue-in-cheek theory that Neville already knows Nagelsmann has the keys to Old Trafford.

Neville kicked off the discussion by asking: “The big question is, what do Manchester United do about the manager Michael Carrick?

“The question is, from people who support the appointment of Michael, for people who are more nervous, the question is who would you put in?”

Keane then turned to Neville and said: “What’s your vibes because, you know, you are on the inside.”

Rather than the former United captain responding, Scholes interjected: “I know what he is going to say… Nagelsmann, he says Nagelsmann every time I see him.”

In a bid to counter Scholes’ response, Neville said: “I don’t know Nagelsmann. I’ve not spoken to anybody at Manchester United about him at all, that’s an absolute fabrication.

“I mention him because he’s been at Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich. He’s got 10 years of experience managing in clubs with incredible coaching pedigree.”
