Prince Harry revealed one of his son Prince Archie‘s favourite toys during an engagement in Birmingham. The 41-year-old was welcomed by hospital staff during his visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he marked two decades of WellChild’s specialist nursing initiative.
The royal took time to pose alongside approximately twelve nurses for a group photograph, as well as having a conversation with one young patient, a 12-year-old boy. Whilst meeting Alec Hill and his parents, Harry shared an insight into his own family life – as well as making a rare admission about his seven-year-old son.
Prince Archie was previously confirmed to be travelling to the UK alongside his parents and little sister, five-year-old Princess Lilibet, but, after Harry’s request for police protection was denied, Harry decided to travel to the UK without his family.
Speaking of Archie, Harry said: “Do you know who’s obsessed with Lego? My son Archie and he’s a master builder.”
This personal admission comes as it has been reported that, despite the security drama, Harry could be set to bring his children to visit their paternal grandfather, King Charles, at some point this week.
Speaking to a gathering of WellChild executives, nursing staff and families, Harry acknowledged the mounting pressures facing healthcare workers.
He said: “I don’t know if you hear it enough, the difference that you make every single day is quite literally changing daily lives.”
He went on to add: “I understand, and we understand, that becomes harder every week with cuts and financial difficulties just the insanity that seems to be circulating, not just in this country but in general.”
Archie and Lilibet have not travelled to the UK since 2022, a visit that saw them celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The visit was also the last time that the King is thought to have seen his two youngest grandchildren.
