Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised for their actions over the past couple of weeks, as Meghan is set to join the Duke of Sussex for a brief period during his trip to the UK. Harry landed in the UK earlier this week, and after his defeat in court, he is set to reunite with his father, King Charles III. The initial plan was for all four family members, Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet, to visit the UK, but plans were changed due to security concerns.
There was then some back and forth, with Harry’s invite to stay at Buckingham Palace eventually revoked as he failed to give a timely answer. Now, it has been confirmed that Meghan will join her husband for a brief time in the UK, but she will not make any public appearances. It was initially reported that she would join him at an Invictus Games event, but the Prince will now be flying solo at that.
On a podcast, Where Pop Culture Meets PR, hosts PR veterans Jacki Vause and Lyle Fulton discussed the recent royal drama and specifically focused on how the famous couple have acted.
Laying into the Sussexes, Vause said: “I think they’re playing a game now. I think they’ve come to the conclusion that they’re damned if they do and they’re damned if they don’t, and they can just play around with everybody, and say one minute they’re coming and the next minute they’re not, and just hang everyone else to play to the beat of their own drum.
She added: “It’s their right if they want to behave that way. But it’s god damn crazy.
“Just tell the truth, which is something the ‘Harkles’ have no concept of doing.”
Harry arrived in the UK alone on Monday after he learned he would not be given armed police protection, meaning he did not feel it was safe enough for his family to be in the country.
