World Cup pundit accidentally says C-word as shocked studio react | Football | Sport

Former Premier League star Kevin Doyle accidentally dropped a C-bomb during live coverage of the World Cup 2026. Doyle, who won 62 caps for the Republic of Ireland, has been part of RTE’s tournament coverage in his home country. He’s been able to lend expertise relating to football in the United States, having finished his career with Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. However, it was during a discussion of his time Stateside that he dropped the unfortunate clanger.

Doyle was in the studio for live coverage of the match between France and Iraq. Thunder and lightning in Philadelphia led to a two-hour delay in the middle of the match, with guests required to fill time during what effectively amounted to a significantly expanded half-time break. During the lull, the 42-year-old spoke of his time in the US and mixed up his words in the most unfortunate way. He tried to speak carefully when mentioning the “Lamar Hunt US Open Cup” but accidentally referred to the competition as the “US Open C***.”
